We haven’t done too many travel round-ups because we prefer to cover places where our writers can’t offer first-hand advice. But our readers have asked, so here are 16 packages still available during the holiday break. They include city, snow and warm weather getaways across the U.S. and represent the best values of the 50 or so packages submitted to us.

Warmer Weather Escapes

The Resort: Kona Kai Resort & Marina; San Diego
The Deal: The Merry & Bright 2-night Package (through Dec, 31st)
The Detail: Rates start at $645 for two nights and include 4 tickets for the a ride on the Stars and Stripes Yacht, 4 tickets to the “Jungle Bells” Jungle Tour at the San Diego Zoo, a

The Resort: JW Marriott Hill Country; San Antonio, TX
The Deal: Holiday Rates begin at $189; Stay five nights December 14th January 4th and receive a $109 rate.
The Details: The resort has a nightly holiday lights display from December 24th to 31st. The kids club becomes a gingerbread house 
for the holidays with gingerbread activities (extra fee).

  3. My teens love the Kalahari. They’ll be going in a few weeks for a retreat- something they always look forward too.

    • I’ve sort of been dreading water parks as a necessary evil of parenthood, but we went to one last winter and had a lot of fun. We’ll probably do it once a winter or so when TT becomes a better swimmer.
