Families take more than four vacations a year on average, and they are equally likely to take weekend getaways as they are long vacations; most families do a little of each every year. They are Internet savvy and go online to research and book vacations. While they love going on vacations they dread planning them. I–or just about any parent I know–could have written this paragraph from a recent Newsweek article.

School vacation is coming up. I’m swamped at work, and trip planning has become a time-consuming hell. A simple family vacation requires innumerable visits to destination websites; a suspicious scouring of rankings and reviews; and, at the heart-stopping final moment, a purchase on a site where prices and availability seem to change by the second…

This is where FamiliesGo! comes in.  By providing the very hotel information parents need, along with a forum for feedback from other parents, our recommended group of savvy travel bloggers who are parents, and tips and tools for planning and packing, we aim to grow into a one-stop shop for moms and dads. We want to take the hassle and time out of planning family vacations so you can more easily and quickly move on to enjoying your family vacations.

Meet the Founder:

Eileen Gunn is a veteran journalist, fearless traveler and mom of one. She’s written a kick-butt career book, climbed a volcano in the pitch black, gone kayaking in a typhoon, and routinely takes her preschooler on the NYC subway. Before her daughter was three she’d been out of the country three times, taken a cruise, boarded a few planes and taken several road trips.  Eileen launched FamiliesGo! to makes planning family vacations less exhausting by providing all the information she was never able to find when trying to plan her own trips for three. She blogs about family travel for Park Slope Parents and review playgrounds and other family friendly spots for Kids Play Guide and its Mom Maps app.
