No plans yet for the holiday break? No worries. We have rounded up 10 hotels that have gotten into the holiday season with all-out impressive holiday decor and unique special events. Most have a package deal to help you enjoy what their city or property has to offer. Many are worth stopping by to visit, even if you don’t stay.

Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa isn’t offering any holiday packages. But they do have a seasonal ice skating rink, events like skate with Santa, milk and cookies with Mrs. Claus and an Elf-on-the-Shelf scavenger hunt, gingerbread and ornament decorating throughout the month.

2. Boston

The Renaissance Boston Waterfront is offering a Happy Holiday Scavenger Hunt Package. It includes a scavenger hunt map that will take your family to the city’s historical and holiday landmarks like the city Christmas tree, the Blink Holiday Light show and Frog Pond for ice. Warm up back in your room with a cookie decorating kit. The package is on offer through January 10; rates are $194-$354 for a family of four.

3. Chapel Hill, NC

The Carolina Inn lavishly decks its halls every year and celebrates the 12 days of Christmas in grand Southern style. No package deals here. But events through the month include a gingerbread village display and competition,
breakfast or brunch with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, a sugar plum fairy tea party with local ballet company, a tap-dance showcase and children’s etiquette luncheon.

The Hilton
Anatole offers a holiday package around their Breakfast with Santa. It includes holiday movie night and breakfast with the big guy followed by a scavenger hunt, face painting, gingerbread baking and storytime. While you’re staying enjoy the towering nutcrackers, oversized floating ornaments,
tinsel-wrapped trees and singing reindeer barn
 around the hotel. Rates start
at $189. Breakfast runs through December 23, 2015

5. Louisville, KY

The Galt House Hotel offers several Christmas shows including family options. If you head into town for one you can opt for an overnight package that includes a waterfront balcony suite; 4 tickets to Christmas at The Galt House activities; free parking and a $25 giftcard. Rates start at $199. Offer is only until December 27, 2015.

6. Low Country, Georgia

Who-Ville moves into the Sea Island resort for the HolidaysSea Island Resort likes Christmas a lot. The Grinch who has moved in for Christmas does not! The hotel isn’t offering packages but it has a gingerbread Who-Ville in its lobby, a Who-Ville-themed kids club, Grinch-themed cooking and ornament classes, a reindog parade and visits by the green grump himself. It also offers plenty of activities from December 20-27, including Elf tuck-ins, sing-alongs and carolers and gingerbread decorating.

7. New York City

The 70 Park Avenue Hotel is offering a Skate at Winter Village Package. It includes a two-night stay; four tickets to skate at the Winter Village in centrally located Bryant Park; round-trip car service from the hotel to the skating; and a $25 gift card for Silverleaf Tavern to warm up with Peet’s coffee or tea. 8. San Diego

 holiday ice skating beachside at the Hotel Del CoronadoThe Hotel Del Coronado does nothing half way. For the holiday season it has decked out its iconic red turret with 100,000 lights. It offers a beachside outdoor ice-skating rink and a musical light show. Choose between brunch with Santa, tea with teddy bears, story time with Mrs. Claus
and elf tuck-ins.
The Skate & S’mores package includes room; one ice skating session for two people; and a one-hour private beach bonfire with s’mores for up to five people. Rates start at $389 per room. The package is available through January 3, 2016.

9. Walt Disney World

holiday chocolate displays at the swan & DolphinEven if you don’t stay at the Swan & Dolphin Hotel, Disney World visitors should stop by this holiday season to see a life-size chocolate holiday scene (left) and to enjoy snowfalls, holiday entertainment and a light show in the lobby. If you check in, watch holiday movies in your room or outside on the beach. On Christmas Eve a holiday elf will visit your room with milk, cookies, a plush toy and storybook and a magic key to hang on your door so Santa can find you. Room rates start at $159.

10. Washington, DC

The Willard Intercontinental Hotel decorates its tree with 34 years worth of official White house ornaments. This year’s ornament honors Calvin Coolidge and the first National Christmas tree lighting in 1923. Choral societies from around town perform in the lobby every afternoon. Sample a holiday tea or seasonal cocktails. Rates for December 19–December 30, 2015 start from $199.

    Great list. Austin’s Barton Creek Resort isn’t too far from me, and I’d completely forgotten about the ice skating rink which is open to the public. We’re doing a quick trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the holidays and will be staying at the Gaylord Texan. They also have a lot of holiday activities plus a (from what I hear) spectacular carved ice exhibit created by artisans from Harbin, China.
